WHY ORGANIZE?

Employees have many different reasons for wanting to organize a union in their workplace.  These reasons are typically rooted in the relationship that is occurring on a daily basis at their place of work.  However, most are in the following categories:

  • To have a voice in your wages, benefits and working conditions.
  • To define the terms of your employment in a legal, binding, written contract.
  • To ensure fair and consistent policies for everyone.
  • To provide job security and protection of your rights.
  • To create a safe workplace or resolve unsafe working conditions.
